Terms of use

Last updated 1 September 2026

By using halfhourly.uk you agree to these terms. They are deliberately short. If you disagree with any of them, please do not use the site.

What this site is

An independent tool that reads publicly available Octopus Energy tariff data and, if you choose to connect an account, your own meter readings. It shows you prices and what they cost you. That is all it does.

We are not Octopus Energy. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to them. "Octopus", "Agile Octopus", "Octopus Go" and related names belong to Octopus Energy.

It is not advice

Nothing here is financial, energy or switching advice. Prices, forecasts, cheapest-window suggestions and cost estimates are information, not recommendations. Decisions about your tariff, your supplier and when you use energy are yours.

Accuracy

We take the data from Octopus Energy's public API and present it as faithfully as we can, but we cannot guarantee it is correct, complete or current. Upstream data can be late, wrong or missing, and we may have bugs. Cost estimates rest on assumptions that are stated where they appear, and they will not match your bill exactly.

Always check your supplier's own app or website before making a decision that costs money. If the two disagree, your supplier is right and we are wrong.

Your account

Fair use of the API

The JSON API is free and needs no key. Please cache responses rather than polling faster than once a minute, and identify your application in the user-agent if you are building something substantial. We may rate-limit or block traffic that threatens the service for everyone.

Do not use this site to attack it or anyone else, to scrape it into a competing product wholesale, or to break the law.

Availability

This is a free service offered as-is. We do not promise it will be available, and we may change or withdraw features, or the whole site, at any time. We will give account holders reasonable notice before shutting down.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss arising from using this site — including money spent or saved on energy, decisions made on the strength of what you saw here, or the site being unavailable or wrong.

Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.

Changes

We may update these terms. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept it. For anything significant we will tell account holders by email first.

Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.
